The exhibition “Solace” is an idea aimed at making the aesthetes feel the ecstasy of escapism at the gallery, featuring sculptures by the passionate and ambitious artist N.S Rana which took almost a year to complete his sculptures. His eye gaging sculptures will give an unforgettable impression in the heart. An environment in which you can fully indulge to experience the waves of solace. This exhibition celebrates 50 years of the sculptor.
Rana believes that sculpture requires a lot of techniques, but that what really makes a sculpture is putting heart and soul into it. His well-crafted sculptures display aspects of deity and nature, which reiterates his affinity for figuration. The deity aspect represents Lord Krishna, and the nature aspect represents flora and fauna. Rana has a perspective of sticking to these themes since nature directs towards livelihood which includes trees, birds, and women.
Two of the famous series are titled “couple” and “We two”, which depict a strong bond between man and woman. In recent sculptures, the textures and sharp lines have been enhanced. A golden line surrounding a few sculptures made from bronze adds a touch of magic that will make you feel the power of love. The colour tone of the sculptures has now become brighter in comparison to the previous ones. This emphasizes his willingness to create many bronze sculptures.
